Obituary for Zamaan Ramadan (Roosevelt Fortson
Mr. Zamaan Ramadan (Roosevelt Fortson, Sr.), 79, of Conway, AR departed this life Tuesday, June 24, 2014. He was born on May 10, 1935 in Rosedale, MS by the late Beatrice and Jarrett Fortson.
He was a retired Conway police officer and a member of the Islamic Center of Pine Bluff.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Wright and Annette Jones, both of Conway, AR; one son, Roosevelt Fortson Jr. of Garland, TX; five sisters, Marion Calvin of New York City, NY; Carol Fortson-Smith of Evanston, IL; Sylvia Fortson of Los Angeles, CA; Roberta Shockley of Palatine, IL and Mary Ann Fortson of Chicago, IL; one brother, Richard “Penny” Fortson of Chicago, IL; Grandchildren Shalonda Tolefree of Colorado Springs, CO; Christina Lofton of Conway, AR; Stephen Wright Jr.of Conway, AR; Melanie Jones of Conway, AR; Brandi Fortson of Garland, TX; Erin Fortson of Garland, TX; One great-granddaughter Stephanie Wright of Conway, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm , Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, 910 Walnut Street, Conway, AR. Visitation 1-6 pm, Friday, June 27, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Pine Bluff, AR.
