He graduated from Appalachian State University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.
He is survived by one daughter, Nia Sheppard; father John Royal, Sr.; mother Sylvia Royal; two sisters Carolyn Enoch and Victoria (Jamey Sr.) Pratt; one brother Dexter (Wanda) Royal; four nephews Curtis Royal, Bryce Royal, Collin Royal and Jamey Pratt, Jr.; one niece Shanteria Enoch and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
