Obituary for Zada Barfield
Ms. Zada Barfield, 47, of Little Rock, Ar departed this life on Sunday, April 30, 2017. She was born to Vessie Stokes Harris and the late Timothy Barfield on March 22, 1970 in Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her father, Timothy Barfield.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church in Wilmot, AR under the leadership of Rev. James A. Vault. Zada would go on and continue serving Christ at Longley Baptist Church in Little Rock, Ar where she remained a member until her passing.
In 1992, Zada graduated with honors from Grambling State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Zada was a lifetime member of the local and national Grambling State University Alumni. She served on EVERY committee at the local level. Zada loved GSU! After completing her education, Zada dedicated her career to serving others. She accomplished this goal in many capacities through various agencies. Her last endeavor was working at Goodwill Industries coaching those with disabilities and special needs to enter into the workforce.
Zada was an active member of Silver Star/Roseola Chapter #362, Order of Eastern Star – PHA, North Little Rock, AR.
Zada held many job titles but her MOST devoted job was being a mother to Marquie Daquan Jones. Not only was Zada a dedicated and loving mother, she was a daughter, sister, aunt, mentor, counselor, recruiter and phenomenal friend.
Zada leaves to cherish her memories; mother Vessie Harris of Little Rock, AR; son, Marquie Daquan Jones of Little Rock, AR; godsons MarAnthony Robinson and David King, both of Little Rock, AR; goddaughter Zadah Lambert of Wilmot, AR; brothers Cedric Harris, Sr. of Benton, AR and Cortney Harris of Little Rock, AR; sisters Alicia and Timikia Barfield of Dallas, TX; Amy Dunn of Little Rock, Ar and LaRhonda Johnson of Wilmot, AR; nieces Kapresha Harris of Conway, AR; Makaylah, Makenzie and Jaliyah Harris, all of Little Rock, AR; nephews Cedric Harris, Jr., Cornelius Harris and Makale Harris of Little Rock, AR; her Eastern Star Sistars and a host of aunts, uncles, classmates, colleagues and special friends MaKeisha Davis, Gertrude Stubberfield, Cynthia Wilkins, all of Little Rock, AR and Tina McLaurin of New Orleans, LA.
Services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 6, 2017 at St. Peter's Rock Baptist Church, Montrose, AR. Visitation 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday, May 5, 2017 at the funeral home.
