Obituary for Wynona G. Morgan
Mrs. Wynona G. Morgan, 53, of Conway, Ar departed this life on Sunday, May 8, 2016. She was born in Ferriday, LA on August 10, 1962 to the late Norma Ann (Taylor) Morgan and Larry Morgan, Sr.
She confessed a hope in Christ at Greater Saint Reed Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Fred T. Green in Ferriday, LA. Upon moving to Conway, AR, she united with Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.R. Raynor. She served faithfully in the J.R. Raynor Sanctuary Choir and served as chair of the Culinary Committee until her health slowed her down.
Sister Wy loved to cook and was always looking for ways to help others. Even in her sickness, she never missed a chance to make a difference in someone’s day. She missed her calling as a stand-up comedian as she could bring laughter in any situation. Sister Wy worked several years at SAS Shoe Factory until it closed. Even in failing health, Sister Wy still tried to work and make her own way. You could look for her at family gatherings with a pot of something as she never came empty handed.
She is survived by one son, Corey (Mandy) Morgan and grandson, Collin, all of Midwest City, OK; two sisters, Aretha (Arthur) Barnes of Little Rock, AR and Alondra Conner of Monroe, LA; three brothers, Larry (Dana) Morgan, Jr.of McDonough, GA; Lavelle Collins and Jacob Morgan, both of Las Vegas, NV; four aunts, Gloria Marshall and Betty Carter of Chicago, IL; Gladys Smiths of Ferriday, LA and Joyce Morgan of Flowood, MS; six uncles, Jessie and Robert Taylor of Greenville, SC; Billy (Gwen) Taylor of Concordia Township, OH; Samuel (Donna) Morgan of Baton Rouge, LA; Alex (Cheryl) Morgan and William Morgan, both of Chicago, IL; three nephews, Kamron Baker and Robert Johnson, both of Little Rock, AR and Larry Johnson of Midwest City, OK; two nieces, Shanna (Carlton) Morgan Blout of Atlanta, GA and Shannon Morgan of McDonough, GA and a host of other cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church, 601 Spruce Street, Conway, AR. Visitation 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Friday, May 13, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment Robinson Cemetery in Conway, AR.
