Obituary for Willie Lee Winston
Mr. Willie Lee Winston, 83, of Conway, Ar departed this life on Sunday, October 30, 2016. He was born on April 15, 1933 in Conway, Ar to the late Roosevelt Winston and Delilah Walker Winston.
When he was a teenager, the family moved to Kansas City, MO.
He joined the Army after high school and served in the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, he went to work for Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. He retired in 1990 after 25 years of service.
In his late 20s, he married Hattie Tatum. To this union, two children were born.
After retiring, he moved back to Conway, Ar. He then professed a hope in Christ and became a member of Mt. Gale Baptist Church. He remained active on the Usher Board, the kitchen staff, the Deacon Board, and the Transportation and Maintenance team.
He then met and married Leeretta Perkins on July 6, 1996.
He was preceded in death by two siblings; Lois Berry (sister) and a twin brother, Billie Lee Winston.
He is survived by his wife, Leeretta; two children, Terry (Gaye) Winston of Kansas City, MO and Denise Winston of Conway, AR; 7 stepchildren, Barbara of Minnesota; Shirley of Kansas City, MO; Janice (Eddie) of Atlanta, GA; Linda of Overland Park, KS; Jackie of Conway, AR; Gregory (Camille) of Temecula, CA; Demond (Rose) of Lonoke, AR; one sister Sandra (Keith) Hollowell of Sherwood, AR; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Mt. Gale Baptist Church, 8 Brannon Drive, Conway, AR. Visitation 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Friday, November 4, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment 12:00 pm, Monday, November 7, 2016 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, AR.
