Obituary for W. A. Templeton
Walker Anvie Templeton of Atkins, Arkansas departed this life September 24, 2008. He was born to the late Walker S. Templeton and Abel Brown Templeton May 9, 1922 in Conway County, Arkansas - The Happy Bend Community.
He professed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the St. Matthew #3 Missionary Baptist Church in Blackwell, Arkansas under the leadership of Rev. Brownlee. He was a deacon, Usher, Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School and Church Treasurer as well as a World War II Army Veteran.
He was united in holy matrimony to Nila Mae Gilreath, April 3, 1949. There were no children born to this union.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nila Mae Templeton after 51 years of marriage; four sisters, Ruth Templeton Pride, Ella Mae Templeton Brigham, Viola Templeton Hensley, Henrietta Templeton King and three brothers, Alex Templeton, Ralph Templeton and Wilbur Ray (Bill) Templeton.  He leaves to cherish his memories Two loving and devoted sisters, Aloria Jernigan, Chicago,IL; and Wilzie Ponds of Elsmere, Kentucky as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be 1pm Saturday October 4, 2008 at St. Matthew #3 Missionary Baptist Church, Blackwell, Arkansas. Interment Rose of Sharon Cemetery. Arrangements Larry G.
