Mrs. Vickie Annette Henderson Flood was born to Casterene Cunningham Henderson and the late L.V. Henderson, Sr. on January 7, 1962 in Conway, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by three brothers Darryl, Harold, and Leon; paternal grandparents Leo Henderson, Sr. and Napolean “Lee” Henderson; maternal grandfather John Cunningham and special aunt Josephine Allaway.
Vickie professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Earlie Mack at Salem Missionary Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir, attending bible study, Sunday school and working with Women’s Mission. Her goal was to know Christ. She strived to demonstrate Christ-like character daily.
A graduate of Conway High School in 1980, Vickie went on to attend school at Petit Jean Vocational Technical College in Morrilton studying secretarial skills. She worked at Molex in Maumelle until she became ill. She enjoyed working with children at various daycares throughout the community.
On November 17, 1984 she was joined in marriage with her high school classmate Stevey (Steven) Flood. To this union was born two beautiful daughters: Asha Anjonette and Stasha Camay.
Vickie was quiet spirited but also a jokester. She loved to laugh and plug in a tease here and there. Her granddaughter Addison, whom she adored, affectionately called her V-Ma. Asha and Stasha were the joy of her life! She never complained of her illness. It was always “I’m ok”. She enjoyed family gatherings, especially girl trips with her sisters. Her hobbies were sewing, braiding hair and watching sports.
Vickie leaves to cherish her memories: a loving and caring husband, Stevey Flood of 38 years; daughters Asha (Christopher) Baker and Stasha Flood; granddaughter Addison Leigh Baker; mother Casterene Henderson; six sisters Verna (Lloyd) Hervey, Ernestine (Larry) Acklin, Cozette James, Carolyn (Odie) Phillips, Donna (Winston) Turner and Melissa (Darryl) Foster; three brothers Claude (Beverly) Henderson, Sr., Glenn (Shelia) Henderson and Lee Virgil (Tammy) Henderson, Jr.; one uncle Lonnie Cunningham; four sister-in-laws Virginia Ann Henderson, Yvonne Flood, Paula Flood and Sabrina Flood; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
