Obituary for Tempy Muriel (Clark) Hoskins

Mrs. Tempy Muriel Clark Hoskins was born October 25, 1938 in Hazen, Arkansas to the Rev. and Mrs. Frank J. Clark. She departed this life on  April 18, 2024.

Mrs. Hoskins attended public and private schools and graduated with honors. She pursued and completed the requirements for the B.A. degree in Music Education with a major concentration  in voice and a minor in piano at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, AR. She earned a master's degree from the Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Mrs. Hoskins pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Tempy, as she was fondly called by family and close friends, was an unusual woman. She often said that she received her greatest joy from being of service to others.

Mrs. Hoskins served in the field of education as a teacher for thirty years. Her teaching career began in the Chicago, IL Public School System, continued in Grand Rapids, Michigan and ended in Georgia. She was described as a master teacher because of the personal attention she gave to each individual student. Many of her innovative and creative projects were taking students back to tour historically black colleges. This project alone inspired many students to attend HBCUs. Mrs. Hoskins was a speaker and a writer.  She also served as a member of numerous organizations, some of which included the NAACP, Urban League and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

She leaves to mourn her passing: husband, Wilbert L. Hoskins; three beloved children, Jamele A. Brooks, Ewing Monroe McKissic IV and Brian H. McKissic; nine grandchildren, Brett L. Brooks, Ewing Monroe McKissic V, Courtney McKissic, Chianti Green, Antonio McKissic, Anthony Lazar, Ashtain Beck, Renita Trotter, Noah Muhammed: ten great-grandchildren and a host of loving nephews, godsons, god daughters, other relatives and friends.
