Obituary for Susie Washington
Mrs. Susie Gaines Washington, 94, of Conway (formerly of Clinton, AR) departed this life Friday, January 3, 2014. She was born on October 19, 1919 in Clinton, AR to the late Nathaniel and Bertha Gaines.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Harper, Sr.; To this union one son and two daughters were born. She is preceded in death by her daughters, Bertha Harper Harris and Earlene Harper Gill. She was later joined in marriage to Willie Washington for 54 years, who also preceded her in death. Â
Susie confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with Mt. View Baptist Church in Clinton, AR, where she was a dedicated member and served as Chief Usher. Later in life, she moved to Conway, AR and united with Union Baptist Church, where she remained a loyal member until her homegoing.
Susie was an employee of Whillock Motel in Clinton, Ar where she worked for thirty six years.
Susie leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Albert (Joyce) Harper, Jr.; two grandsons, Larry (Mary Ann) Gill and Michael Harris; three granddaughters, Deborah Gill, Samantha Morgan and Erika (Quincy) Mitchell; ten great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Union Baptist Church, 1257 Lincoln Street, Conway, AR. Visitation 4-6 pm Friday, January 10, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment Mt. View Cemetery in Clinton, AR.
