Obituary for Sue Carolyn Sumners
Sue Carolyn Sumners, 77, of Fort Smith, AR departed this life Friday, July 25, 2014. Miss Sue Sumners passed from this life peacefully in her sleep. Sue was born on March 21, 1937 to Harry and Artie Sumners. She lived in Fort Smith her whole life until her health starting failing and she moved to Conway to be near her sister, 5 years ago.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jim Sumners. “Miss Sue”, as she was affectionately known, loved babies and dogs. She adored a host of nieces and nephews.
She attended Fort Smith High School and Fort Smith Junior College. She was a member of First Baptist Church from early childhood. She worked at First Baptist Church as a caregiver and for the Mothers Day Out program for over 30 years.
She is survived by her brother, Bill Sumners of Roland, Iowa; one sister, Judie Sumners Stuart of Conway, AR; nieces Valerie Gramlich of Roland, Iowa; Kecia Stuart Sandusky of Magnolia, AR; nephews Mark Stuart of Mayflower, AR; Matthew Stuart of Fort Polk, LA and Buddy Sumners of Fort Smith, AR; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11:30 am, Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Forest Park Cemetery, 5001 Midland Blvd, Fort Smith, AR. with Chaplain Matt Stuart Officiating and music by Mark and Sally Stuart.
Services entrusted to Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, 910 Walnut Street, Conway, AR "IN YOUR TIME OF NEED....WE CARE."
