Obituary for Steven Welton Williams
Mr. Steven Welton Williams, 83, of Morrilton, AR departed this life on Saturday, October 30, 2021. He was born July 1, 1938 in Springfield, AR to the late Earnest and Freddie Bell (Toney) Williams.
Steven joined church at a very young age at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Plumerville, AR and remained a member until his death.
Steve worked for Covington Roofing Company for many years. He was the first black man to work for Covington Roofing Company. He loved fishing and hunting and being around family.
Steven married Justine Davis and to this union six children were born: Steven Jr., Celestine, Valorie, Gloria, Terry and Demetrius Williams, all of Detroit, Michigan. He relocated to Flint, Michigan for years and he leaves cherished memories to his sons King Walton and Stephon, both of Flint, Michigan and daughter Shalyn Thomas of Cleveland, OH.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents Freddie Bell and Earnest Williams; son Steven Williams, Jr.; daughter Celestine Williams-Holder; two brothers Michael Wayne Williams and Sonny Boy Williams; sister Hazel Flood; grandmother Dovie Williams and uncle Virgil Toney, Sr.
He also leaves to cherish his memories to his five sisters Alice Mae Blackburn of Fayetteville, AR; Althalene Hill and Georgia Parker-McNabb, both of Springfield, AR; Lorene Walls of Morrilton, AR and Allene Walls of Flint, Michigan; one brother Earnest Charles Williams of Morrilton, AR; 27 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 728 Mt. Olive Road, Plumerville, AR. Visitation 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Friday, November 12, 2021 at the funeral home. Interment Mt. Olive Cemetery in Plumerville, AR.
