Obituary for Stephen W. Mackey
Mr. Stephen W. Mackey, M.D., of Little Rock, AR, born December 18, 1960, in Marvell, Arkansas, transitioned to his Home with the Lord July 23, 2021, after a long illness.
Dr. Mackey graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.S. in Science and acquired a degree in medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, specializing in Infectious Disease. He taught over 15 years at UALR Pulaski Tech and Baptist Health School of Nursing, “Touching the lives of over a thousand students in the science, nursing, surgery tech, and medical tech fields. (Dr. George Laustet, colleague”) 2021. Dr. Mackey possessed a sense of humor not of this realm, wittingly and unwittingly. “Laughter maketh the heart merry like a medicine” (Proverbs 17:22). Dr. Mackey loved his students, and his students loved him.
Dr. Mackey is proceeded in death by his father William Wiley Mackey, his mother Mary E. Mackey, and four brothers: Aaron Moore, Kenneth W. Mackey, M.D. (Gloria), Harris M. Mackey, M.D., and Eric M. Mackey, Ph.D.
Dr. Mackey leaves to cherish his loving memory brothers Bobby Harris (Pricilla) of Chicago, IL, George S. Mackey CPA (Michelle) of Conway, AR; sisters Rose Mackey, Ghost-journalist, PI, of Little Rock, AR, Patricia A. Mackey, Attorney-at-Law, of Little Rock, AR, and Joyce Mackey Prowell (Stanley) LCSW of Fayetteville, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church in North Little Rock, AR. Interment at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Little Rock, AR. Out of an abundance of precaution, due to the pandemic, the family is having a closed funeral service. However, Viewing will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2021, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, located at 8821 Colonel Glen Road, Little Rock, AR, (501) 565-1800.
