Obituary for Roy Lee Jones, Sr.
Mr. Roy Lee Jones, Sr., 82, of Conway, Ar departed this life on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. He was born on July 10, 1935 in Conway, Arkansas to the late Robert Jones and the late Exia Lasker.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Jones and Exia Lasker, and his brother Charles McFarlin, Sr. and step mother Willie A. Jones.
He accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Mt. Sinai C.O.G.I.C. where Superintendent Ernest L. Sweat, III was his pastor. He served on the Deacon Board. He began his 60 year work career as a plumber working for Sam King before he became a self-employed licensed master plumber. After retirement, he worked as a foster grandparent at Mrs. Jeannie’s Childcare where all the kids called him “Papa.”
He was affectionately known and loved by all and never met a stranger. Roy was a man who truly enjoyed life he loved to laugh, and make others laugh at his jokes.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and totally devoted wife Mary Jane Jones, his children Kathleen (Carl) and Cleophus (Cheryl) of Texas, Robert (Debria), Jeannie (Rickie), Roy Jr. (Monica), Sheila (Edward), and Rashad of Conway; 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; a sister Richarddean Clark of Little Rock; two special cousins Marion McClure and Vernon Lasker of Conway; sisters and brother-in-law Annie Mae Fourte and Robert Foster of Chicago, Josephine Fletcher Agee of St. Louis, and Rhodie Fortson of Conway and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church, 8112 Bicentennial Road, North Little Rock, AR. Visitation 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Friday, August 25, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment Ray Cemetery in Conway, AR.
