Obituary for Robert Vales, Jr.
Mr. Robert Vales Jr., 92, of Maumelle, AR departed this life on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. He was born March 21,1930 to the late Robert Vales Sr. and Fannie Mae Vales.
He married Mae Helen West and to this union, a son, Gerald Vales was born.
He professed his hope in Christ on April 2,1980 and became a member of New First Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, one brother and two sisters.
He retired as a U.S. Navy Chief Radioman in 1968 with numerous honors and awards. At age 62, he fully retired as a contractor for Civil Service.
He leaves to mourn, one nephew, Arthur Fleming Jr., (Wanda) of Memphis, TN, a very special cousin, Margaret Connor of Memphis, TN, two cousins, Cora Ferguson and Mattie Eddington of St. Louis, MO, three great-nieces, one great-nephew all of Memphis, TN, and a host of extended family. He was a very integral part of his Arkansas family as well, and a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews, whose names and birthdays he never failed to remember, all of whom he declared were his “number1”. During his illness, he was cared for by two sister-in-laws (Mary Moore & Ruth Collins) who loved him unconditionally.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Marche Church of Christ, 14407 Old Maumelle Road, NLR, AR. Visitation 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, April 22, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment Perkins Memorial Park Cemetery, 13700 Thunder Mountain Road, NLR, AR.
