Obituary for Robert Lilburn Byrns, Sr.
Robert Lilburn Byrns, Sr., 90, of Conway, formerly of Cabot and Little Rock, died Sunday evening, December 9, 2018 at Heritage Living Center and went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. He was born October 5, 1928 in Little Rock. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Maxine Byrns, one daughter, Rebecca Lynch, two sons, Ron and Rob, five grandchildren and three great-children.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lena Ruth Wegener, his brother, C.W. Byrns, and the dog he greatly loved, Jenny.
He served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church of Cabot, and enthusiastically sang in church services. With his loud, baritone voice everyone in the congregation knew whose voice sang the loudest praises.
Robert was an active Shriner for several years and rode a big Harley-Davidson Electroglide as a member of their motorcycle group in parades and other events.
He was an extremely hard worker with a strong work ethic and a very generous provider to his family. He averaged 80 hours weekly working at his business, Barber St. Exxon and Wrecker Service in Little Rock, for 20 years, yet was faithful to make time to take his family regularly to church. He loved deer hunting and especially enjoyed the fellowship at his family-oriented deer camp with his fellow hunters and their families.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, his wife requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
The family plans a family gathering for remembrance and scattering of ashes, but no funeral or memorial service. To offer condolences and share a memory of Robert with his family visit www.larrygacklinfuneralhomes.com.
Services entrusted to Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, 910 Walnut Street, Conway, AR. "IN YOUR TIME OF NEED....WE CARE."
