Obituary for Raymond J. Owens
Raymond J. Owens, 71, of Conway, Ar departed this life Sunday, December 28, 2014. He was born on April 3, 1943 in Tulsa, OK to the late James R. and Ollie Mae (Logan) Owens. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Raymond Owens, Jr.; a brother, Melvin Draper and a sister, Rosie Davis.
He accepted Christ at 9 years of age in Mt. Vernon, AR and enjoyed attending Mt. Sinai Church of God in Christ in Conway, AR.
Raymond attended school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He worked in the envelope business for most of his life. He was considered a good handyman and liked to tinker with things. he was property manager of Lasker Apartments in Conway, Ar. Raymond was well loved and loved to dress. He was often called "Old School" or "Smokey". Raymond kept a smile on his face but when it was time to handle his business, he would.
He is survived by one brother, Nathaniel Johnson of Conway, AR; three sisters, Marilyn Owens, Peggy Green and Mildred Smith, all of Conway, AR; two stepchildren, Tashonda Pratt and Montrell Reed, both of Atlanta, GA; a very special friend and fiancee’, Rolene Criswell of Conway, AR and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Mt. Sinai Church of God in Christ, 349 Hwy 365 South, Conway, AR. Visitation 6-7 pm Friday, January 2, 2015 at Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church, 601 Spruce Street, Conway. Interment Robinson Cemetery in Conway, AR.
