Obituary for Neal B. "Red" Mahathay

Mr. Neal "Red" Blake Mahathay, 58, of Plumerville, AR departed this life on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Neal (Red) Blake Mahathay was born August 11, 1965 in Jasper, Texas to George Ralph Mahathay and Helen Rose Gillis. Neal accepted Christ early in his life, and as a teen he walked the streets of Jasper with his Holy Bible sharing the word  ofGod to all. Neal talked to his Heavenly Father on a regular basis.


Neal graduated from Jasper High School, served in the Army, worked numerous jobs and was a truck driver. He was a scholarly student and was excellent with numbers. He participated on the football team while in school and proved he could be a professional player. The Dallas Cowboys was his favorite team.


Neal was a Mason and member of The Luminary Lodge #76 where he had served as Senior Warden, Worshipful Master, Past Master, and Associate Patron of Conway, Prince Hall Affiliated, Jurisdiction of Arkansas and a member of the Royal Arch. He loved his lodge brothers and the work of the craft.


Neal was employed with the University of Central Arkansas in the Physical Plant as an Electrician. He absolutely loved this job and made great friends while there.


He is preceded in death by his bonus-mom and grandmother Willie Louise Haynes-Mahathay, his son Neal, Jr., and his brothers Robert Tyrone Gillis and Tony Bogard Mahathay.


He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and supportive wife, Anita, children Malachi and Chloe of the home; daughter LeKiesha, grandsons Kysen and Aiden of Newton, Texas; father George Ralph (Sandra) Mahathay, mother Helen Rose Gillis-Mahathay, siblings Selena (Larry) Benton of Arlington, Texas; Althena (Robert) Winslow of Dallas, Texas; JoAnna Gillis of Arlington, Texas; Phyllis Lewis of Dallas, Texas; Tammy Cooper of Jasper, Texas; Brandon Mahathay, of Houston, Texas; Princess Lane of Houston, Texas; inlaws Stanley and Judy Anderson, Diane Anderson, Melvin and Linda Anderson, Barbara Anderson, James and Pat Jones, Doreen Anderson, Robert and Eunice Calhoun, Tommy and Dorothy Kimble, and Wendy Anderson, an uncle, aunts, a very special Aunt Musie Haynes, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.


Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 146 Taylor Circle, Conway, AR. Visitation 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Friday, May 3, 2024 at the funeral home. Interment Friendship Cemetery in Conway, AR.
