Obituary for Minnie R. Brown
Ms. Minnie R. Brown, 84, of Morrilton, AR departed this life Saturday, July 25, 2020. She was born September 11, 1935 in Morrilton, AR to the late K.C. Brown and Orean (Nabors) Brown.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Helen (Joe) Rice and Betty Faye (Vinson) Hill and brother Bobby Brown.
Minnie received her formal education in the public schools of Conway County, Arkansas where she attended L.W. Sullivan High School and graduated with the Class of 1953. After graduation, she attended Petit Jean Vo-Tech and Conway County Cosmetology School where she earned her diploma and license to operate a hair salon. She also served as a faithful member of the L.W. Sullivan High School Reunion Planning Committee.
“Ms. Minnie” as she was affectionately referred to in the community, was a leader who never met a stranger, as everyone knew “Ms. Minnie” and “Ms. Minnie” knew everyone. She was an entrepreneur, seamstress, food service manager and a champion for children and young adults. Her home was always open where you would find her sharing life’s lessons and at times her unsolicited advice. On many occasions, after providing for her children and making her customers beautiful in her hair salon she still found time for others and those in need. We loved her all the more because we knew she genuinely cared.
She leaves to cherish precious memories her daughter, Yarnell Renee Johnson, Plano TX; sons: Rev. Delbert R. (Lorraine) Brown, Clarksville, TN and Kenneth Charles Brown, Morrilton, AR; sister, Mary Lois (Marzell Sr) Easter, Detroit, MI; brother, Billy Joe (Foresteen) Brown, Wichita, KS; a special first cousin, Henry Earl Nabors, Kansas City, Kansas; grandchildren: Spencer Todd (Ashley) Brown, Fayetteville, AR, Lemuel Maurice (Kimberly) Brown, Dallas, TX and Myea Lorraine (Rodney) Curry, Clarksville, TN; 10 great-grandchildren: TaNyra Brown, Raleigh, MS, Spencer J. Brown, Xavier Brown, Whitney Brown, Jordan Brown, all of Fayetteville, AR, Rodney Curry, Jr., Rayelle Curry both of Clarksville, TN, Ascension Brown, Amauri Brown, and Alai’a Brown, all of Dallas, TX; one great-greatgrandchild, Arianna Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Walk-Thru visitation will be held 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, August 1, 2020 at Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, 910 Walnut Street, Conway, AR.
