Obituary for Melvin Bohanon
Mr. Melvin Bohanon, 57, of Conway, AR departed this life on Thursday, December 3, 2020. He was born on March 23, 1963 in Earle, AR to Eddie Bohanon and Levert (Dorty) Danley.
He is preceded in death by his mother Levert Danley; father Eddie Bohanon and brothers Eugene Bohanon, Eddie Bohanon and Terry Bohanon.
Melvin was raised in West Memphis, Arkansas where he excelled in sports. He was an All-American athlete. He was a 1982 graduate of West Memphis High School.
After high school Melvin attended the University of Central Arkansas where he played football and basketball. He was a defensive back from 1982 – 1986, where he played for Coach Horton. One of his many accomplishments included being inducted into the Hall of Fame at UCA in 2004.
Melvin was a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and the Luminary Masonic Lodge #76 P.H.A. He was also a founding member of WINE-O.
Melvin worked at the Union Pacific Railroad in North Little Rock for nineteen years.
He is survived by his children Latoya Bohanon Jones of West Memphis, AR; Bryce Bohanon and Emerie Bohanon, both of Conway, AR; grandchildren Kenta Jones, Kentreal Jones and Khalil Jones; one grandson Kody Jones and siblings Diane Bohanon, David Lee Bohanon, Marvin Bohanon, Brenda Wagner, Donald Bohanon, Barbara Bohanon, Gary Bohanon, Kenny Bohanon, Calvin Bohanon and Angie Bohanon.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Robinson Cemetery in Conway, AR.
