Mary Jane Naylor (Janie), of Conway, Arkansas died peacefully Saturday, October 5th, 2024 at age 81.
She was born on October 22, 1942, in Magnolia, Arkansas, to Joe and Camille Miller. Janie grew up in Stephens, Arkansas. She later attended what is now Southern Arkansas University for her bachelor's degree in education and later received a master's degree from what is now the University of Central Arkansas.
As a lifelong educator and administrator, she worked in Pulaski County and Conway Public Schools for over forty-two years. Janie served on numerous educational committees and boards throughout her career. She continued to support the educational process for children long after her retirement.
Janie is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Camille Miller. She is survived by her husband Dr. David Naylor, Sr., two children, son, Dr. David Naylor, Jr. (Cindy) of Conway, Arkansas, daughter, Lisa Reed (Chris) of Palo Alto, California, and five grandchildren, Dylan Naylor and Drake Naylor of Conway, Arkansas, Ryan Reed of San Francisco, California, Paige Reed of
Fort Worth, Texas, and Jack Reed of Palo Alto, California.
The family would like to thank the doctors at Banister Lieblong Clinic, the staff of Arkansas Hospice and especially all the close friends that provided love, support, and kindness during Janie’s short illness.
Per Janie's request, no service will take place. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be made to the Julia Lee Moore Elementary School Backpack Program, which provides food for underprivileged students (1301 Country Club Rd., Conway, Arkansas, 72034).
