Mrs. Mary Alice Hinton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2024 in Conway, AR. She was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas on August 8,1951 to Robert James and Odessa Ashby. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bobby Ashby, Michael Ashby, Freddie Ashby and Tommy Ashby.
She attended Pine Street Elementary school and was part of the classes that integrated Conway High School. She attended school for data entry of medical records and she attended Penn Valley University in Kansas City, Missouri.
As a youngster, she united with Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church and was baptized by Rev. J. R. Raynor. She sang in the Young Adult Choir. After relocating to Kansas City, she joined hands with New Life Baptist Church where Bishop Kenneth Michael Hinton was her shepherd. Mary returned to Conway to help care for her mother and she reunited with Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church where the current pastor is Rev. Artee Williams. where she continued to sing in the choir. Mary Ann was faithful in attendance at the Greater Pleasant Branch until her health slowed her down.
Mary married Timothy Lasker in 1972. Three children were born to this union.
Mary loved working with children when she was younger and often shared stories throughout the years. She spent some time working at Conway Regional Hospital. Mary held several jobs throughout her life including Mail Room Manager for the IRS in Kansas City; Manager of Employee Benefits of Bank of America, and a dedicated worker of Hall Mark Cards in Kansas City for over 10 years until she retired.
Mary married Willis Hinton on September 4, 2007. They spent 24 wonderful years together. She always put her family first and she adored her loving husband, although she tried to show him who was the boss. He just laughed. She loved watching her tv shows, singing, shopping and her beloved Pitbulls Sheba, Butch and Duke. She loved her mom so much and always helped when she could. She showed her love for her mother when she left her home in Kansas City with her husband to take care of her. Although she was the eighth child of thirteen, she was a leader for all the other siblings. Most of us called her our second mom. She would tan your hide good if you got out of order while momma was gone. Mary was a person you could not argue with. We say farewell to a dear sister, loving aunt, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and yes a faithful friend.
