Obituary for Loria Winston
Mrs. Loria Winston, 85, of Menifee, AR departed this life on Friday, March 31, 2023. She was born on August 22, 1938 to Lula and King Solomon Jefferson. She was the youngest of seven children (4 boys and 3 girls).
She attended grade school in the New Hope community before transferring to Menifee in the 5th grade. At the age of 19 she married Joseph Winston and to this union 5 children were born.
Loria labored in the workforce in Morrilton for a number of years, including nine years at Levi Strauss. She also spent a lot of time traveling back and forth to California visiting family. Loria served as an usher at New Hope Baptist Church for many years. After that church closed down, she moved her membership to Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Loria's hobbies include cooking and watching television. Her favorite show was "The Young and the Restless", with Victor Newman being her favorite character.
Loria loved dressing up on Sundays and styling her many hats. She also enjoyed attending the Menifee Senior Adult Center where she could spend time with special friends and others.
She is survived by one son Joe (Carlton) Winston, Jr. of Springhill, FL; two daughters Peggy Winston of Conway, AR and Annie McNeely of San Diego, CA and a host of grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 728 Mt. Olive Road, Plumerville, AR. Visitation 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Friday, April 14, 2023 at the funeral home. Interment Owens Cemetery in Morrilton, AR.
