Obituary for Lonnie E. Pickens
Lonnie Earl Pickens 60, of Conway departed this life Monday May 25, 2009. He was born to the late Arthur William Pickens and Lula Bailey Pickens in Hope, Arkansas. He was also preceded in death by a brother Willie Samuel Pickens. He was a 1969 graduate of A.M, & N College (U.A.P.B) in Pine Bluff, Arkansas where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. He received his Master of Science Degree in Mathematics from Henderson State University, Arkadelphia in 1973. He taught math for twenty-five years and coached athletics for nineteen years. He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Dollie Pickens, Conway; One daughter, Tanya Pickens, Two sons, Adrian Pickens and Avery Pickens all of Conway; One brother, Arthur Pickens of San Augustine, TX; Two sisters, Hattie VanHoose of White Hall and Marjorie Williams, Fort Wayne, IN; Four grandchildren, Tara Holland, Aliyah Pickens, Jadah Pickens and Miyah Pickens all of Conway, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be 11am Saturday May 30, 2009 at Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church, Conway. Interment Robinson Cemetery. Visitation 1 - 5pm Friday Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, Conway. "IN YOUR TIME OF NEED...... WE CARE".
