Obituary for Lenton Randolph Taylor
Mr. Lenton Randolph Taylor, 87 of Conway departed this life Tuesday May 31, 2011. He was born April 23, 1924 in Friendship, Arkansas. He was the son of the late Randolph Taylor and Hattie Gilbert Taylor. Seven siblings, five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Friendship, AR, where he remained a faithful member for years. Later in life he united with the Greater Pleasant branch Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Mass Choir. He later united with the Union Missionary Baptist Church where he served as the Director of the choir. He was still active in his membership and rejoiced in his church family.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Eula L. Taylor on February 9, 1957, who preceded him in death.
He was a World War II Veteran and a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #07163. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge which he served as a 32nd Degree Mason. He was very active in the community as a volunteer. He worked in construction and retired from the Street Department with the City of Conway.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, a nephew he raised, 5 grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, 8 Great-Great Grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, other family members, friends and his beloved church family.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Union Baptist Church 1257 Lincoln Street, Conway. Family visitations 6-7 p.m. Tuesday. Interment Friendship Cemetery.
