Obituary for James M Ponds
Mr. James Melvin Ponds, 80, of Conway, departed this life March 9, 2012. He was born in Morrilton, AR to the late James Ernest Ponds and Lucille Manuel Ponds on December 7, 1931. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl Ponds and Johnnie Ponds, and a sister, Geraldine Bond.
Mr. Ponds retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. He was a member of Harrison & Willow Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Everlean Ponds of Conway, AR; Stepdaughter, Charlene Fields of Conway, AR; Three stepsons, Elvin Maltbia and Marcus Maltbia, both of Conway, AR and Martin D. Maltbia of Colorado Springs, CO; Three brothers, George (Mary) Ponds of Rockford, IL, Waymon (Cora) Ponds of Kansas City, KS and Ronnie (Gwen) Ponds of Springfield, MO; Four sisters, Shirley Stanford and Delores Ponds, both of Rockford, IL, Helen (Donnie) Holloway of Devalls Bluff, AR, and Addie M. (Perry) Brown of Morrilton, AR; Nine grandchildren and Eight great grandchildren. Â
Funeral services will be 10 am Friday, March 16, 2012 at Harrison & Willow Church of Christ in Conway, AR. Visitation will be Thursday 3-5 pm at the funeral home. Interment 12:00 pm Friday at AR State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock, AR.
