Obituary for Hurby Perkins
Mr. Hurby D. Perkins, 91, of Conway, Ar departed this life on Thursday, January 18, 2018. He was born on April 3, 1926 in North Little Rock, Ar to the late Rufus Perkins and Mary E. (Wandick) Perkins-Baker.
He is preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Lee Edwards and Luvenia White and four brothers, Cliff Perkins, Milton Baker, Hilton Baker and Charles Baker.
He was united in holy matrimony to Lorraine Guiden on July 6, 1951. She preceded him in death in December 1997.
Hurby confessed his faith in Christ at an early age. Later in life he joined Union Missionary Baptist Church in Conway, AR where he remained a loyal, faithful, and dedicated servant until his death. He served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and Trustee Board. He also served as President of the Usher Board.
Hurby not only worked in the church but also in his community. He was instrumental in starting a boy's baseball team in the Pine Street area. He was known for helping others and was greatly respected.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Michael Perkins of Maumelle, Ar and Danny Wayne Perkins of Fort Worth, TX; one daughter, Vivian McCuien of Mayflower, AR; three brothers, Elonzo (Freddie) Baker of Colorado Springs, CO; Alfonzo (Sharon) Baker of North Little Rock, AR and Luther Baker of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Lovie Pace of Maumelle, AR and Elmira (Colon) Pierce of Morrilton, AR; sixteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church, 601 Spruce Street, Conway, AR. Visitation 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday, January 26, 2018 at Union Baptist Church, 1257 Lincoln Street, Conway, AR. Interment Perkins Cemetery in Maumelle, AR.
