Obituary for Herman Canady

Mr. Herman Canady, 90, of Hattieville, AR departed this life Wednesday, June 5, 2024. He was born June 17, 1933 in Hattieville, AR to the late Talton and Adeline Canady.


He had an eighth grade education and finished his schooling at Votec, where he was enrolled as an automotive mechanic.

Herman worked at the Packing House for a period of time and Morton’s Frozen Foods for five years. After 21 years of hard dedicated work, as the maintenance man, he retired from Arrow Automotive of Morrilton, AR.


At a young age he professed his life to Christ and was baptized in a creek in Hattieville, AR, under the leadership of Rev. Alexander of Prospect Baptist Church.


January 16, 1960, Herman was united in holy matrimony to Canera Kent, who remained by his side until he was called home. Their blessed union endured 64 years and produced 5 children together. Herman Canady joined the Masonic family in 1977, where he was Past Master of Silver Trowel #9, Member of Triple Tau #11, HRAM, PHA.


Herman is preceded in death by his father and mother, Talton and Adeline Canady; his brothers Eddie Canady, Walt Canady, Jonathan Canady, David Canady, Calvin Canady, Fletcher Canady; his sister Bertha Byers; stepson Jackie (MC) and a host of other loved ones.


He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Canera Canady; daughter Gloria Carolina; sons Herman Wayne (Shelley) Canady, Toney (Marketta) Canady, Lester Canady, and Steven Canady; stepson Oscar (Tracy) Kent; stepdaughter Odie Bell (Tryce) Coleman and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and beloved friends.


Herman was a loving, wonderful, and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.


Visitation 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Friday, June 14, 2024 at the funeral home.


Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, June 15, 2024 at New Prospect Baptist Church, 3433 AR-95, Cleveland, AR.


Interment New Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hattieville, AR.


Services entrusted to Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, 307 N. St. Joseph Street, Morrilton, AR.
