Obituary for Fonzie L. Mason
Mr. Fonzie L. Mason, 75, of Conway, AR departed this life on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. He was born on August 15, 1946 in Walls, MS to the late Lee Ethel and Willie Mason, Sr.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Geraldine Mason Tucker; brother Eugene Mason and daughter, Kim Y. Mason Garman.
Fonzie accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Walls, Mississippi. He graduated from Delta Center High School in Walls, Mississippi in 1964. After graduating from high school, Fonzie enlisted in the United States Air Force and earned the rank of Sergeant. After serving four years in the Air Force, Fonzie returned to Walls, Mississippi and enrolled in Memphis State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
In 1970, Fonzie married Ivory Sandidge. To this fifty-one-year union, two children were born. After moving to Conway, Arkansas, he joined Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member until his death.
Fonzi leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Ivory Mason; son, Kenneth Mason (Tamara) of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughters, Kierra Cunningham and Chloe Mason; and grandson, Dubois Mason. Fonzie was the third of eight children and leaves five siblings: Donnell Mason (Ann) of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Peggy L. Fryer (Bobby) of Memphis, TN; Laverne King (Samuel) of St. Petersburg, Florida; Willie Mason, Jr. (Clarice-deceased) of Memphis, TN; Walter Mason (E. Jean-deceased) of Cordova, TN, and a special cousin and namesake, Fonzie Griffin, Jr. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, neighbors, and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church, 601 Spruce Street, Conway, AR. Walk-thru visitation will be 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Friday, December 10, 2021 at the funeral home. Interment Robinson Cemetery in Conway, AR.
Masks are required.
