Obituary for Evelyn Garth
Mrs. Evelina "Evelyn" Chatwood Garth, 86, of Mayflower, AR departed this life on Sunday, January 30, 2022. She was born in Marianna, Arkansas to the late Ellis and Marie (Williams) Chatwood.
Evelyn graduated from Jones High School and moved to Flint, Michigan at age 18. She later relocated to Redwood City, CA where she attended nursing school at Stanford Hospital. She went on to work for Sharon Heights Convalescence and Stanford Hospital.
Evelyn married her husband Israel L. Garth on August 10, 1962 in Redwood City, CA. They lived in California for 33 years and later relocated to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995.
In addition to being a dedicated, loving wife and mother, Evelyn's hobbies included crocheting, bowling and upholstering. She was a National bowler. She was also a member of Eastern Star, chairman of the Red Hats Club, chairman of the Mother's Club, Deaconess Chairman and Mother of the Mother's Board.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, son Willie B. Branch, Jr. and grandson Antonio Harper.
She is survived by her husband Israel; daughter Donna (Marcus) Harper; sister Bobbie Banks and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 pm, Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church, 8112 Bicentennial Road, North Little Rock, AR. Visitation 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Friday, February 4, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment Palarm Cemetery in Mayflower, AR.
