Obituary for Eula Lee Taylor
Mrs. Eula Lee Martin Taylor, 81, of Conway departed this life on Friday, January 28, 2011 in Conway, Ar. She was born April 11, 1929, in Clinton, AR. She was the daughter of the late Harrison Merriweather and Lizzie Martin Merriweather.
Seven siblings proceeded her in death: sisters Ruby Merriweather, Annie Mae Combs, Henrietta McNealy; brothers Theman Martin, Willie B. Martin, Solome Martin, Oscar Merriweather and a special cousin, Marie Howard.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Mt. View Missionary Baptist Church in Clinton, Ar, where she remained a faithful member for years until she married and moved to Conway, Ar. There she attended the Greater Pleasant Branch Missionary Baptist Church and later united with the Union Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Food Committee. She was still active in her membership and rejoiced in her church family.
She united in holy matrimony to Mr. Lenton R. Taylor on February 9, 1957.
She was a long time member of the Veteran Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 7163. She was one of the first original start up members. She belonged to the Easter Star and was a Worthy Matron.
She worked as a cook at the June Café in Clinton, Ar for a number of years until moving to Conway where she worked at Tommy’s Restaurant. She was the head cook at the Conway Country Club until she retired after 31 years. After retirement, she worked at Acxiom Day Care Center.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of fifty three years, Lenton Taylor; daughters Ruby Jean (David) Carolina of Conway, AR, Linda Diane Gatewood of Pomona, CA; brothers Charles C. (Doris) Martin of Little Rock, AR and Quentin (Angie) Martin of Clinton, AR; sister Laney Gladney of Detroit, MI; sister-in-law Namonia (Willie B.) Martin of Cherry Valley, AR; nephew Stephen (Sherri) Harris of Dallas, TX; Five grandchildren, Dietrick L. (Priscilla) Greenlaw, Cheryl Greenlaw, Lekebra (Gregory) Halley, Derious Hayes, Jacquline Gatewood and Janet Gatewood; Eighteen Great-Grandchildren, Eight Great-Great Grandchildren, Three special children, Jackie R. (Jessica) Percell, Joyce D. (Albert) Harper and Marion (Aaron) Gault; close friend, Helen Perry; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, other family members, friends and her beloved church family.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church. Visitation 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday at Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home-Conway. Interment Robinson Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home-Conway. 327-1124.  "IN YOUR TIME OF NEED...WE CARE."
