Obituary for Erma Lee Phillips
Mrs. Erma Phillips, of Little Rock, was born November 26, 1935 in Lake Village, Arkansas to Mattie (Ridgell) Hale and Tom Hale, who preceded her in death. She was the fourteenth child of fifteen children. Ten brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. She was affectionately known to her siblings as “Bug”. God called her home on Sunday, March 6, 2011. Her passing represents the final chapter in the Hale family.
Sister Phillips was baptized in Jesus name in 1958 under the leadership of the late Pastor Ruby Holland. She continued her service under Bishop Leodis Warren, and was a member of the Greater Christ Temple Mother’s Board. She retired as an employee of the UAMS Hospital after 37 years of service.
Sis. Phillips is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Billups, Sr., her second husband, Tommy Lee Phillips, Sr.; and one son, Curtis Lee Billups.
Sis. Phillips is the mother of ten children, Tommy Lee (Geneva) Phillips, Jr., of Los Angles, CA; Charles Billups of Des Moines, IA.; Carl Phillips of Columbus, OH; Alden D. (Sharon) Phillips of Little Rock, AR; Alvon Wayne Phillips of Nogales, AZ; Jacqueline Genail (Christopher) Baldwin of Little Rock, AR; Dr. Elder Michael Ray Phillips of Atlanta, GA; Tammie Terrell Alexander of Little Rock, AR; Marilyn Renee (Thomas) Scott of Little Rock, AR; Sister-in-Law, Gloria Hale of North Little Rock, AR; Special Cousin, John Ben (Jerry) Ridgell of Lake Village, AR; Special Niece, Cassandra Williams of Little Rock, AR; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Greater Christ Temple Pentecostal Church, 1200 Lewis Street, Little Rock. Visitations 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment Rest in Peace Cemetery, Hensley, AR. Arrangements entrusted to Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, 8821 Colonel Glenn, Little Rock. 565-1800 "IN YOUR TIME OF NEED...WE CARE."
