Obituary for Emma Jean Handley
Mrs. Emma Jean Handley, 77, of Menifee, Ar departed this life on Friday, August 17, 2018. She was born in Plumerville, Ar (Mt. Olive community) on May 21, 1941 to Willie Mae Donald Halcrombe and Houston Hammond. She was later adopted by Sam and Tessie Talley. The family relocated to Menifee, Arkansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Alfred Halcrombe, and sister Dorothy Ester Tolbert.
Jean accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was baptized and united with Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Plumerville, Arkansas. She was a graduate of Conway County Training School in Menifee, Arkansas.
She was married to John Ellis Green and from this union two sons were born. She later married Ramond Handley, Sr. for nine years and relocated to Detroit, Michigan in 1965. She worked for Henry Ford Hospital and Ford Motor Company before moving back to Menifee, Arkansas in 1979. Upon her return to Arkansas she worked for Carrier Air Conditioning and GATX.
She leaves a legacy of love and precious memories to her son John (Bettina) Green of Little Rock, Arkansas and Sam (Sandra) Green of Conway, Arkansas; two sisters, Mildred Canady of Menifee, AR and Mary Ridout of Little Rock, AR; one brother, David (Nancy) Halcrombe of Morrilton, AR; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 728 Mt. Olive Road, Plumerville, AR. Visitation 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Friday, August 24, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment Mt. Olive Cemetery.
