Obituary for Elmer L. Strickland
Mr. Elmer L. Strickland, 69, of Conway, Ar departed this life Tuesday, February 4, 2014. He was born on April 25, 1944 in Mt. Vernon, AR to the late C.C. and Elizabeth (Nelson) Strickland. He is preceded in death by his sister, Elsie Brooks; brothers Delmar and James Strickland.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture at the former AM&N-Pine Bluff College (Univ of Ark at Pine Bluff). He worked for Conway Human Development Center as an instructor for 34 1/2 years. Mr. Strickland was a member of Mt. Gale Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the deacon board. He also was an usher for the Middlewestern District Union.Â
He is survived by his wife, Norma Clay Strickland of Conway, AR; two daughters, Felicia Strickland and Sonya (Clayvon) Strickland-Flenory, both of Conway, AR; two brothers, Jimmy (Agalene) Strickland of Conway, Ar and Earnest Brooks of Kansas City, KS; two sisters, Dilcie Donald of Little Rock, AR and Bernice (Jesse) Allen of Conway, AR; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 pm Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church, 601 Spruce Street, Conway, AR. Â Visitation 6-7 pm Friday at Mt. Gale Missionary Baptist Church, #8 Brannon Drive, Conway, AR. Interment Ray Cemetery, Conway, Ar.
