Ellistine confessed Christ over 45 years ago at Mulberry Grove Baptist Church in Wabbaseka, Arkansas. She was currently a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.
She graduated from J.S. Walker High School of Wabbaseka, Arkansas in 1966. She attended Shorter College from 1971 to 1973 and transferred to Philander Smith College where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education on May 11, 1975. Ellistine taught within the Little Rock School District at various elementary schools for 32 years. While teaching at Franklin Elementary, she decided to close this chapter of her life and retired on June 7, 2007.
Ellistine took personal pride in her career, which allowed her the opportunity to inspire and touch the lives of so many individuals. She often talked of her students and her desire to help them be the best. Her greatest love was family. She loved caring for her granddaughters and spending quality time with her son as well as her sister and other family. She often gathered with family and friends to fellowship in good food and laughter. Ellistine would always greet you with a big, warm smile and the kindest of words. She was an extremely giving woman with a heart of pure gold.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, a son, Willie Gaddy, Jr.; granddaughters: Regina Murphy of Little Rock, Arkansas, Rayona Gossett of Maumelle, Arkansas, and Tara Gaddy of Memphis, Tennessee; a mother, Radie Johnson Brewer of Jackson, Michigan; sisters: Hurselene Silverman of Humphrey, Arkansas, Bertha Berry of Los Angeles, California, Cozetta Matthews of Jackson, Michigan, and Patricia Whitlow of Altheimer, Arkansas; brothers: Elzie Whitlow of Los Angeles, California and Herman Whitlow of Jackson, Michigan; an aunt, Pearlie Horton of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
