Obituary for Elizabeth Claire Bass
Elizabeth Claire “Liz” Bass of Conway, Arkansas, passed away on October 31, 2014. She was born December 13, 1950, in Benton Arkansas.
Liz graduated from Conway High School in 1969. She earned an AA degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design from Petit Jean Vocational Technical School and a BA degree in Health Education from the University of Central Arkansas (UCA).
In 1985, Liz was recruited by UCA to develop the Campus Beautification Program; in 1996 she moved to the Biology Department as a lab coordinator and research greenhouse manager. She retired from UCA after 29 years of dedicated service.
Liz was known for her infectious smile, strong work ethic and can-do attitude. She enjoyed art, poetry, yoga, camping, and attending live performances.
She is survived by her brother Michael Bass, M.D., of Rancho Cordova, California; sisters Jocelyn Liebig (John) of Chugiak, Alaska, and Sundae Fowler (Kevin) of Conway; nephew Julius Greenwood of Conway; niece Cindy Amaral (Carlos) of Plano, Texas; niece Gina Bass of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nephew Brian Bass of Traskwood, Arkansas; nephew Scott Bass (Cynthia) of Poulsbo, Washington; niece Natasha Liebig of Tampa, Florida and Monika Liebig-Williams (Shomari) of Anchorage, Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Murphy Bass and Julia Margaret (Combs) Bass; brothers Shannon Todd Bass of Conway and Guy Walter Bass (Janet) of Traskwood, Arkansas; nephew Marc Boaz Liebig of Chugiak, Alaska; and niece Tracy Bass of Orinda, California.
A celebration of her life will be held on November 8th, 2014 at 2:00 PM in Ferguson Memorial Chapel on the UCA campus in Conway. A reception will follow at 1905 Favre Lane in Conway, Arkansas 72034.
