Obituary for Edward Earl McIver
Mr. Edward Earl McIver, 69, departed this life on April 1, 2011 in Atlanta, GA after battling a long illness. Born to the late Edna and Cleophus McIver on June 9, 1941 in Memphis, TN. One of eight children, Edward had two sisters, Cleo Baker (Walter) and Letecia McIver Davidson. He had five brothers; Adolphus McIver, Emory McIver, James McIver (Sunda), Harold McIver and Kenneth McIver.
After spending much of his childholld in Memphis, the McIvers moved to Detroit, Michigan.
After graduating high school, Edward entered the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Oklahoma. After returning home, Edward met and soon married Lynne Crowley. The couple settled in Atlanta, GA. Edward and Lynne had three daughters: Ranie McIver Darden (Anthony), Brigette Tucker (Reginald) and Tara McIver.
Edward worked for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department and after many years of service, retired with the rank of Honorary Major. After retiring, Edward returned to his childhood home of Memphis. He lived there until health issues brought him back to Atlanta.
A great lover of family, Edward is survived by five grandchildren: Domineque Montford, Kiara McIver, Cassidy McIver, Caleb McIver and Kristopher Tucker, as well as two great grandchildren, Jalen and Mariah McIver. He will be greatly missed by Anthony McIver, Kevin McIver, Uncle Johann “Mankid” Hill, Aunt Mable “Baby Joe” Jamerson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at St. Matthew #3 Baptist Church in Blackwell, AR. Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment Rose of Sharon Cemetery in Blackwell, Ar.
