Obituary for Earnest E. Rogers
Mr. Earnest E. Rogers, 81, of Conway, Ar departed this life Wednesday, March 16, 2016. He was born in Conway, Ar on July 29, 1934 to the late Ophelia (McCuien) McDaniel.Â
He is preceded in death by his parents Mrs. Ophelia McDaniel and Mr. Sherman McDaniel; one son, Clinton Cardell Rogers; one daughter, Deborah Rogers; two brothers Freddie Lee (Bobby) Turner; Eugene (Dale) Rogers; two sisters Lucille Grant and Myrtice Harris; and one son-in-law J.C. Clemons.
He professed a hope in God at an early age and he kept the faith at St. Mark COGIC in Chicago, IL under the leadership of Elder Theodore Acklin. He was a profound singer and drummer of the St. Mark Gospel Quartet. He later traveled back to Arkansas and united with Zion Temple COGIC where he received his Deacon's Certification of Ordination and served under the leadership of Elder Frank Anderson, Jr. until his health declined.
Mr. Rogers loved to operate antique model trains, catch masses of bass and catfish. He was affectionately called "Mr. Boris".Â
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Oletha (Mattison) Rogers of Conway, AR; three sons, Tyrone Rogers, Johnathan Rogers and Tony Rogers, all of Conway, AR; five daughters, Linda Criswell  and Earnette (Jaabir) Shahid, both of Little Rock, AR; Sheila Clemons, Annette Bell and Sophia (Melvin) Polk, all of Conway, AR; 22 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Zion Temple Church of God in Christ, 1272 Sutton Street, Conway, AR. Visitation 1-5 pm, Friday, March 25, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment Robinson Cemetery in Conway, AR.
