Obituary for Dorothy Mae Worthy
Mrs. Dorothy Mae Worthy, 81, Mayflower, AR departed this life Monday, December 18, 2023. She was born January 3, 1942 in Coy, Arkansas to the late Arthur "Red" Worthy and Mary Anna Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her siblings Arthur Worthy, Edward Worthy, Charles "Cap" Jones, Florine White, Wilbur Worthy, James Walker, Ethel Brewer and Ernestine Coswell.
Dorothy accepted Christ at a young age at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Coy, Arkansas. She was a faithful member of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church.
Dorothy was a person who loved her family, loved her church and loved people. She had unique relationships with everyone. She was quick to hand out a nickname or a term of endearment to the people she loved. She was an avid lover of the Blues, hats and a good pantsuit. She was affectionately known by many monikers: Dot, Cadillac, Auntie, Dottie Wottie and Smart Lady, just to name a few.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her loving memory two sisters Virginia Smith and Shirley Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family; special friends Pat Credit, Bea Stubbs, Kay Simpson and her God family Marilyn and F .H. Lyons, Dawn Murchison, Tommy Murchison and the late Lee Murchison.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Palarm Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 795 Hwy 365, Mayflower, AR. Visitation 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Friday, December 22, 2023 at the funeral home. Interment Ray Cemetery in Conway, AR.
