Obituary for Claudia Eloise Cummings

Claudia Eloise Scott Cummings, 97, of Conway, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Born to the late Rev. Thomas L. Scott Sr. & Mable E. Walker Scott.

Claudia accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was not only a member of Mt. Gale, but she was active, holding such roles as President of the choir, Secretary of BTU, Secretary of the Women’s Mission, and an Usher. She attended Mt. Gale until a decline in health.

She was known by many in the community as a skillful cosmetologist, a true matriarch, a wealth of knowledge who taught many life lessons; that will be forever cherished. She was a spiritual warrior, who would quickly set you straight with a solid word, or “the look.” Claudia was a natural encourager to all and directed you to the Lord at every opportunity. We will miss her guidance, smile, laughter, savory chocolate pies, and Sunday dinners.

She is preceded in death by both parents, sisters Jeraldine King and Delma Jenkins, brother Thomas L. Scott Jr., son William Earl Cummings, and daughter Geraldine Burch. She leaves to cherish her memory: One sister Mary H. Hollerman; Four children Leo Cummings Jr. (Veletta), Shirley Dorris (Zelmor), Barbara Thomas (Darrell), Sandra Green; Nieces & Nephews: Mary Neely, Marcus Chandler, Kathy Chandler, Otis Chandler, Bernard Chandler, Nancy Wright, Benjamin Chandler;  Grandchildren: Robert Burch, Kimberly McDaniel, Alexander Thomas (Donna), Maria Adams (Michael), Stephanie Pickens (Adrian), Audrey Cooper (Marcus), Leo Cummings III (Whitney), Dianna Perry (Josh), Jennifer Simpson (Carlos), Ashley Burch; Great-grandchildren: Nadia Thomas, Netanya Adams, Ayanna Adams, Aliyah Pickens (Ja’van), Jadah Pickens, Miyah Pickens, Deisha Jolivette, Alexandria Jolivette, Charlotte Cummings, Naomi Cummings, Jocelyn Perry, Malik Simpson, Cavan Simpson, Jeniah Black; Great-great-grandchildren Adonis Ross, Apollo Ross, and Elizabeth Adams and a host of other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

Visitation will be held 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Friday, October 18, 2024 at the funeral home chapel.

Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Mt. Gale Missionary Baptist Church, #8 W. Brannon Drive, Conway, AR.
