Obituary for Clarence Acklin
Mr. Clarence Acklin, 62, of Louisville, KY (formally of Conway, Ar) went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 22, 2017. He was born January 16, 1955 to the late Frances Acklin. He was the tenth child of 16 children.
Clarence was preceded in death by his mother and four brothers, Dewillis Lasker, Wilton Lewis Lasker, William Earl Lasker and Johnny Phillip Lasker.
Clarence served in the United States Air Force for four years. After leaving the service, he earned his degree in Business from UALR. Upon graduating, he went to work for Kmart as a store manager. After leaving Kmart, he went on to careers as a real estate agent and District Manager at The Fresh Market. At the time of death, Clarence was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AckWright, LLC of Conway, Ar.
Clarence was always an active member of the communities he lived in. He held the highest civilian honor the Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky could bestow: The Title of Kentucky Colonel. The Governor along with the Secretary of State recognized Clarence’s effort to improve lives and provide hope and fulfill dreams of citizens all over the Commonwealth and across the nation.
Once of Clarence’s favorite saying was “I don’t need a lot of friends, I have family.” One of his many attributes was his unwavering support of his family and always ending a conversation with a smile.
He was joined in Holy matrimony with Martha ANN DuChane. Their union was blessed with four children: Rian, Aaron, Shawn and Steven.
Clarence professed his hope in Christ at an early age and was active at St. Stephen Baptist Church in Louisville, KY.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mrs. Martha “Ann” Acklin and four sons, Rian Acklin, Aaron Acklin and Shawn Acklin, all of Los Angeles, CA and Steven Acklin of Louisville, KY; a loving sister-in-law Ms. Muriel “T” DuChane of Louisville, KY; granddaughter Gabrielle Alexis Kottoncamp-Acklin of Michigan; Six brothers James Lasker, Genevle (Judith) Acklin, Robert (Alice) Wright, and Vincent (Regina) Acklin, all of Conway, AR; Ceodis Lasker of Muskogee, OK and Marcus (Denise) Acklin of Houston, TX; Five sisters, Martha Wilson Williams, Mona Agee Marshall, and Vernell (Lee) Wright, all of Conway, Ar; Verla (Leodis) Williams of El Dorado, AR and Rose (Lester) Bentley of Atlanta, GA; and a very special friend (brother) Larry Dean Waters of Conway, AR. He has one surviving aunt Mary Morris of Conway, AR. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Mt. Gale Missionary Baptist Church, #8 West Brannon Drive, Conway, Ar. Visitation 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday, September 29, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment Ray Cemetery in Conway, Ar.
