Obituary for Charles L. Nichols, Sr.
Elder Charles Lee Nichols, Sr., 86, of Russellville, AR departed this life on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. He was born on July 21, 1930 in Dardanelle, Ar to the late Charlie (Chalk) and Ozzie Nichols.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Jane Jackson Nichols; his daughter, Marilyn Jane Harris; daughter-in-law, Mattie Faye Nichols; parents Charlie and Ozzie Nichols; six brothers, Thamar, LeRoy, JaCeal, Cevelle, Joe Delmar and Lonnie Nichols; two sisters, Lobelia Bagby and Amanda Sue Jackson.
He was appointed Pastor of the Russellville Church of God in Christ, now known as Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, in 1963. He owned and operated Nichols Dry Cleaners. Mr. Nichols was known locally as Russellville's own "Mr. Jefferson".
He is survived by two sons, Charles Nichols, Jr. of Russellville, AR and John (Carolyn) Nichols, Sr. of Findlay, OH; three daughters, Velva Nichols and Jacqueline Thompson, both of Russellville, AR and Caroline (DeWitt) of Little Rock, AR; Eleven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Homegoing services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, August 20, 2016 at New Prospect Baptist Church, 316 S. Houston Place, Russellville, AR. Visitation 6-8 pm Friday, August 19, 2016 at Faith Temple COGIC, 521 S. Independence Ave, Russellville, AR. Interment Rest Haven Memorial Park, 2500 S. Knoxville Ave, Russellville, AR.
