Obituary for Carl W. Rainey
Mr. Carl Rainey, 77, of Cleveland, AR departed this life Sunday, March 3, 2013. He was born December 17, 1935 in Cleveland, Arkansas, the son of Arie (Moore) and William Rainey.

Psalms 127 describes his life as he truly let the Lord build his house.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather that served and led well as the Chief Shepherd of his family and builder of many successful businesses.

He enjoyed his family, cherishing his children’s children.  He passed this life on Sunday morning, March 3, 2013 in Little Rock, Arkansas while family prayed and watched as God gracefully brought one of his soldiers home.

Carl gave his life to Christ at an early age and spent his entire life building a wonderful Godly legacy of service to family, the church and his community.   Those who knew anything about him, knew him to be a devoted Christ-follower; allowing God's word to affect his everyday living. He and his wife, Icy Lee Rainey (Byers), poured into their children godly discipline, high values, the true meaning of integrity, and the importance of education.  He worked tirelessly for New Prospect Baptist Church where he was a member for more than 40 years.  During this time he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Trustee, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Supt., BTU leader, Choir director, and Treasurer.  He also was a committed leader in his community where he served on the Wonderview School Board, and ARVAC.

Preceding him in death were his cherished wife of 50 years and two daughters, Stephanie Bryant and Kasondra Rainey.  He leaves to cherish his memory and godly legacy 11 sons, 3 daughters, and 2 sisters.  His children are Carlton Rainey of Plumerville, AR, Gerald Rainey (Cheryl) of Denver, CO, Kerwin Rainey (Miltresa) of Cleveland, AR, Julian Rainey (Angela) of Little Rock, AR, Merdina Nash (Harold) of North Little Rock, AR, Christopher Rainey of Conway, AR, Alfred Rainey (Ellen) of Springdale, AR, Daniel Rainey of Farmington, AR, Ronald Rainey  (Jenel) of Little Rock, AR, Eric Rainey of Conway, AR, Timothy Rainey (Larronda) of Maumelle, AR, Charlotte Green (Victor) of Conway, AR, Paul Rainey (Amber) of Atlanta, GA, and Laurinda Rainey of Rogers, AR.  His sisters are Flora Davis Sewell of Kansas City, MO, and Margaree Nunley of Cleveland, AR.  He also leaves 29 grandchildren and a host of cousins.
