Obituary for Bessie Rector McFarland
Bessie Rector McFarland, 89, of Conway, Arkansas departed this life Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Conway Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Bessie was born June 29, 1917 to Leonard and Carrie Rector. She was the sixth oldest of 14 children. Her parents and 12 siblings preceded her in death. She was married over 41 years to Carl McFarland who preceded her in death. Mrs. McFarland was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church in Conway, where she taught Sunday School and served as President of the Missionary Department. She was a member of Church Women United, Faulkner County Retired Teachers and the Pink Rose Club. She taught in the Conway Public School system over 30 years beginning with Pine Street School and later at Ida Burns Elementary School. She served as President of the Citywide Mission for over 20 years. She was also a graduate of Southern University.She is survived by a brother, C.J. (Carolyn) Rector of Houston, TX, faithful sister-in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at UnionBaptist Church 1257 Lincoln St. Conway.
