Mrs. Bertha Mae Eady Nunn was born on April 10, 1925 to the Reverend James and Bessie Eady in Postelle, Arkansas.
She was converted and baptized at an early age at the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church. After its closure, she united with Old Mt. Everett Baptist Church under Reverend/Pastor Gaines. Later in life, after the closure of the second church, she united with St. Joseph Baptist Church and then New Zion Baptist Church. She most recently joined and remained a faithful member of the Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. James E. Mackey until her health failed.
Bertha Mae departed this life on Thursday morning, December 28, 2023 in Maumelle, Arkansas. Bertha Mae (aka Mother, MaDear, Mother Bertha, Granny and Grandma) will always be remembered for her love for God, her wisdom, her charming, warm-loving, genuine spirit, her sassiness, culinary, shooting and fishing skills.
One of her proud and memorable events in life was having completed her formative education in St. Louis, Missouri, where she attended the same school as the late, great gospel legend, Sam Cooke.
Bertha later returned to Postelle, Arkansas where she met and married the man of her dreams, Benny “B.J.” Nunn. She was a dedicated wife and homemaker who loved God, her children, family and friends. She never forgot those who helped her along the way when her health began to fail. She always reminded us “When I’m gone, don’t forget about Brenda Rogers, Corrine “Beannie” Pike-Booker, Tina Banks, Luticia Phillips, Erma “Dan” Sims and our dearly departed cousin Irrussle “Yankee” Williams –they were all so good to me, along with other Postelle neighbors!!” Lest not forget Pam Fuller and Jacqueline Doss-Cola of Maumelle.
