Obituary for Barbara Ternilli Owens-Brown
Mrs. Barbara Ternilli Owens-Brown, 69, of Mabelvale, AR departed this life on Wednesday, August 13, 2020. She was born in Moulton, AL to Ruth Fritz and James Owens on June 18, 1951. At a young age, she attended Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was nurtured spiritually. She attended Moulton High School until 1966 when she moved to Dayton, OH where she completed her education and graduated from Jefferson Township High School.
At Jefferson Township she met the love of her life, Dennis E. Brown. They were married on June 21, 1969. Three children were born to this union -Yulanda Anquinette, Dennis Eugene (JR) and Demetrious Antonio (Tony). The family moved to Tucson Arizona, where Denny was stationed at Davis - Monthan Air Force Base. In August 1979 Denny’s enlistment ended, and the family relocated and settled down in Little Rock, AR.
Barbara had a sweet spirit and a nurturing soul. Not only did she love taking care of her children but could be found taking care of all neighborhood children that crossed her path. There were two special children she called grandchildren, Ariel McCullough and Mirage Brown. She also loved to cook, so many of the jobs she held involved her providing meal planning services or preparing food for those in need. She worked at Hughes Aircraft, Falcon Jet and cooked at several restaurants and nursing homes. Her most challenging and rewarding job by far was making a home for her family.
Barbara moved to Phoenix, Arizona for a few years after the death of her beloved husband and attended First Institutional Baptist Church. In Little Rock, she was a member of Greater Second Baptist Church.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Dennis Eugene Brown Sr. in 2009, Her eldest sister Brenda Vincent in 2008 and both parents.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children Yulanda Brown-Watson (Terrance) of AR, Dennis Eugene Brown Jr. (fiancée Brittany) of AR, Demetrious Antonio Brown (Deirdre) of AZ. Brothers - Terry Fritz, Richard Fritz, Alexander Bryson Fritz, James Owens, Jr., Sister - Valerie Fritz. Sister-in-law Rita Brown. Grandchildren - Dennis Eugene Brown III (Trey), Darius Antonio Brown and Demi Alana Brown. Special nieces Latoya Wallace, Jessica White and nephew Dorian Thomas. She also leaves a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, August 19, 2020 at The Mercy Church, 8705 Scott Hamilton Drive, Little Rock, AR.
