Obituary for Amie Davis Halcrombe
Mrs. Amie Halcrombe of Conway departed this life Saturday January 15, 2011.  Amie (Davis) Halcrombe was born November 3, 1916 in Conway County, AR in the Holly Springs Community. She was the baby daughter of the late William (Bill) Davis and Fannie Zelphie Zopha Missouri (Young) Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Berry Halcrombe; siblings, Elizabeth (Shoffner) Simpson, Willia Van (Davis) Austin, Asbie (Riddle) Halcrombe, Arther Ree (Davis) Brannon, and baby brother, Doris (Mack) Davis-Ester; daughter, Sarah Lou Halcrombe; grandchildren William Damon and Terra Patriece Halcrombe; great grandson Robert LeJon Veasley-Jones.; sons-in-law Danny Eugene Wardlow, Robert Lee Veasley, and Cornelius Fowler.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member for years until she and her family moved to Conway, Ar and united with the Greater Pleasant Branch Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a member of the Church Food Committee for several years and a choir member for 48 years.
She was employed by Earl Parks Restaurant, Clawson’s Truck Stop, State College of Arkansas/UCA and Holiday Inn. She was the wife of a Master Mason and chose to take her inherited rite and became a member of the Ancient Free & Accepted Scottish Rite Mason female counterparts by becoming a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, William Terry Alan Halcrombe of Conway and Jerry Lien (Zoe Ann) Halcrombe of Fairfax, OK; Six Daughters, Bennie Lee (Leon) Maxfield of Springfield, Ar; Altha Ann Fowler and Cora Marie Alexander of Conway, AR; Annie Mae Wardlow and Mary Lou Strickland of Wooster, AR; and Geneva Robinson of Marianna, AR. ; 44 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, 40 great-great grandchildren, one special sister-in-law Ruth Lee (Halcrombe) Gault and a host of nephews, nieces, other friends, relatives, and her beloved church family.
Funeral services 11 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church, 601 Spruce Street, Conway. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Friday at Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church. Interment Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Wooster, AR. Arrangements entrusted to Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home of Conway and Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home in Texas. 327-1124.  "IN YOUR TIME OF NEED.....
