Obituary for Jimmie D. "Pop" Thomas, Sr.

Mr. Jimmie Don Thomas, 72, known as “Pop” passed away on February 12, 2023. He was born December 27, 1950 in Roland Arkansas to the late Clara Mae and Lee Thomas. 


Jimmie attended Joe T Robinson High School, then enlisted in the United States Army serving in Vietnam. 


Jimmie accepted Christ at an early age. He was a former member of Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church where he served under the leadership of Elder L.A. Lindsey. Jimmie served as a Deacon and sang in the male choir. 


Jimmie had many skills. He worked early on in masonry as a skilled bricklayer, often working alongside his older brothers. He was employed at Smoky Hollow Foods for 28 years until the company closed down. He later worked for Valley Plating for 17 years until his passing. He loved to tell jokes, especially with his niece Angela Straham. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and binge watching every episode of Walker Texas Ranger, and westerns.


Jimmie Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clara Mae and Lee Thomas; his brothers, Archie Thomas, Lee Thomas Jr (Joe Billy), Eugene Thomas, and sisters, Mabel Thomas, Johnnie Mae Jones, Lorraine Montgomery, and Pearl Hall. 


Jimmie Don leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 17 years, Bonnie Thomas, one son, Jimmie Don Thomas Jr.(Hollie), San Diego, CA, daughters, Sequintia Summons(Michael), Jamie Chapple(Karliss) and Sharunda Thomas, Little Rock, AR, Alexis Brown(Kaleb), Conway, AR, Devin Brown(Muhammad), Atlanta, GA; his sisters, Eloise Reed(Matthew), North Little Rock and Vera Thomas of Little Rock, AR; his beloved grandchildren, Chelsea, Kryschen, Mikele, Kuron, Kamri, Jaylah, Karrington, Jayedon, Amaya, Karleigh, Ava, Marlee, Jazlyn, Damahni, Ashlyn, Damahri, Jalayen, Karsyn, 2 great-grandchildren and twins on the way, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Bountiful Blessings World Fellowship, 4424 W. 30th Street in Little Rock, AR. Visitation 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the funeral home. Interment 1:00 pm, Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Avenue in NLR, AR.
