Obituary for Lee Roy Fowler
Mr. Lee Roy Fowler, 95, of Springfield, Ar departed this life on Friday, September 7, 2018. He was born on January 5, 1923 to the late Zonie Fowler, Sr. and Dioma Elizabeth Bruce Fowler in Bethlehem, Arkansas.

He was educated in the public school systems of Arkansas and Oklahoma.

He professed a hope in Christ at the age of twelve. He attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in Arkansas. Later in life he united with Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Plumerville, AR under the leadership of Rev. Matthew M. Smith, who ordained him as a Deacon. He served under Rev. Smith, Rev. Murray Tucker and Rev. Elijah Carpenter. When his health failed he served as “Of Council” for the deacons under Rev. Charles E. Morris.

He was drafted into the United States Army on April 16, 1943. He served his country well and received an honorable discharge at the end of his tour of duty. He was on Normandy Beach in France during World War II. He received numerous medals.

His work history included construction, truck driver and laborer. He worked in HVAC at Crompton Cotton Mill in Morrilton, Arkansas where he retired after 15 years.

He married Blanche Criswell of Springfield on October 13, 1943. To this union three children were born: Gladys Marie, Anna Lee and Dioma Elizabeth.

His parents, four brothers and twin sisters preceded him in death.

He leaves to celebrate his memories his wife, Blanche Criswell Fowler of Springfield, AR; three daughters Gladys Marie Maltbia of Springfield, Arkansas, Anna Lee (Robert) Smith of St. Louis, MO and Dioma Elizabeth (Rev. Elvin) Jackson of Mabelvale, AR; Six grandchildren Marni Howard of Towson, Maryland; April (Lathan) Tolbert of Fort Worth, Texas; Alicia (Dea. Gary) Clark of Little Rock, AR; Colanda (John) Cato of Fairfax Station, Virginia; Todd (Kenisesha) Kirkland of Little Rock, AR and Camelia (Rev. Vincent) Morgan of Benton, Arkansas; Nine great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, all of Little Rock, AR; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Early of St. Louis, Missouri and Lurline Fowler of Odessa, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 728 Mt. Olive Road, Plumerville, AR. Visitation one hour prior to services. Interment Mt. Olive Cemetery in Plumerville, AR.
